Education Technology

  • Built an academic scheduling system that enables a small team of schedulers to support 4,000 faculty with scheduling and contracting.
  • Built an Academic Content Management System with 20 million page view generated since creation in 2008.
  • Built a Student Finance system that improved processing from 400 military certifications a week to 1,700 a day.
  • Rolled out seven new modules to existing student finance system to upgrade legacy access databases and mitigate risk.
  • Guided cross-functional client, contractor, and consultant teams through successful systems integration, including design, development, testing, training, conversion, and implementation.
  • Developed an enterprise mobile application framework – used for Google Android, Apple iOS, and Amazon Kindle Fire – currently utilized by over 33,000 students each month.

  • For an institution with 9,000 online students, improved operational processes, restricted around student support and academic quality, and delivered $4m in annual cost savings.
  • Transformed culture through soft skills behavioral accountability across curriculum, faculty, and staff.
  • Over 20 years in financial modeling, budgeting and forecasting, financial controls and compliance, strategic planning, IT systems integration, capital planning, and performance management.
  • Established the faculty management model at multiple institutions, integrating credentialing, scheduling, and performance.

Retention Interventions

  • Improved online student retention rates at six institutions.
  • Reinvented the first-in course at four institutions to improve online student retention.
  • Redesigned the virtual classroom in multiple learning management systems to improve student engagement, reduce the number of clicks, and streamline access to academic components.
  • Created the Online Classroom Observation process to promote teaching excellence by elevating stars, coaching stragglers, and separating marginal performers.
  • Connected the pillars of student support across the student lifecycle through restructuring, process improvement, and collaborative accountability for retention.
  • Executed program-specific persistence initiatives yielding a 20% increase in certification exam participation.

Instructional Design

  • 14+ years in eCollege, Angel, Blackboard, Outstart, PeopleSoft, and other proprietary learning management systems and 11+ years in corporate training for Fortune 500 companies.
  • Established Fortune 500 company’s first mobile learning platform for B2B and government reps to take training on the go and just-in-time.
  • Association for Training and Development BEST awards annually, in top ten for over a decade, and recently inducted into the BEST Hall of Fame.
  • Designed, developed, and delivered thousands of online training deliverables to audience of over 90,000 learners globally in multiple languages.
  • Incorporated storytelling techniques into instructional design, resulting in improved learner satisfaction, engagement, and retention.
  • Instituted Instructional Design best practices, processes, and procedures enabling large-scale course development, unified brand voice, and academic quality.
  • Created 800+ engaging interactives spurring critical thinking, problem solving, reflection, and utilizing: animated objects on-screen, animated characters, assessment activities, relevant case studies, live videos shot on green screen on location, whiteboard (hand-drawn) explainer video animations.

Analytics and Reporting

  • Pioneered academic dashboards built for end-user analysis of student outcomes at the course level and faculty engagement in improving teaching and learning.
  • Developed and deployed a key performance measurement model for one of the largest universities in the United States.
  • Created a predictive student attribute and behavior model to tailor retention interventions and improved model accuracy to 100% within defined parameters.
  • Created and deployed enterprise-wide data governance from business language to metric definitions, defining over 1,200 terms and measures with identified stewards, definitions, aliases, and metadata.
  • Designed key metrics leveraged externally with industry analysts, setting precedence to support investors and analysts. Refined measures for industry and enterprise adoption to identify opportunities and support engagement.
  • Integrated data across disparate sources to build cubes and data structures that support business efforts, enabling superior time-to-market performance for analytical needs without sacrificing accuracy or availability.
  • Built multiple analytics structures/models to support forecasting efforts across lines of business (sales, marketing, operations), with integrated planning cadences to reduce forecasting cycle time, improve accuracy, and enable deeper analysis.
